Iraq launches “Sustainable Forests” Project to expand green spaces
Iraq embarks on a journey to boost sustainability and livability through an ambitious green initiative
BAGHDAD, Iraq (MNTV) – Iraq has officially launched the “Sustainable Baghdad Forests” project, a key initiative to expand green spaces and promote environmental sustainability in the capital.
It seeks to create a sustainable urban environment by integrating expansive green areas with modern design and eco-friendly features.
Located on the former Rashid Camp site, the project will feature climate-resistant trees, advanced irrigation systems, recreational spaces, and community activity areas, offering residents a natural oasis within the bustling city.
The project, led by a company called Imkanat and approved by the National Investment Commission, is part of Baghdad’s urban development strategy.
The initiative began with preparatory work in December 2024, including planning, government approvals, and surveying.
Construction officially commenced on February 22, 2025, utilizing cutting-edge technologies to ensure efficiency and quality.
Imkanat emphasizes that the project reflects its vision of innovative urban solutions that balance development with environmental preservation, aligning with global sustainability trends.
The project marks a significant step in Baghdad’s journey toward greener urban living, aiming to enhance residents’ quality of life and set a benchmark for future eco-friendly initiatives.
