Iran, Türkiye support Syria’s territorial integrity, political unity: Cavusoglu
ANKARA, TURKIYE (AA): Türkiye and Iran support Syria’s territorial integrity and its political unity, said Turkish Foreign Minister Cavusoglu on Tuesday while addressing a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir Abdollahian.
Cavusoglu stressed that Ankara and Tehran would closely cooperate in this regard.
Pointing to the steps taken so far in an effort to find a political solution to the Syrian crisis, including Astana talks, Cavusoglu said more concrete steps should be taken now for permanent stability and peace in the war-torn country.
The Turkish foreign minister also recalled a recent tripartite meeting between Türkiye, Syria and Russia.
Last month, Moscow hosted a meeting that brought together Turkish National Defense Minister Hulusi Akar, head of the Turkish Intelligence Service Hakan Fidan and their counterparts from Russia and the Syrian regime.
Turkish and Iranian foreign ministers also discussed other regional issues including Iraq and Afghanistan.
