Iran ranks fifth globally in nanotechnology research publications
Scientific advancements in Iran have surged despite international challenges
TEHRAN, Iran (MNTV) – Iran has secured the fifth position worldwide in 2023 for the number of scientific articles published in the field of nanotechnology.
The country contributed 11,079 scientific articles, which accounted for 4.6% of global research output in the field, as reported by IRNA.
Beyond nanotechnology, Iran has made notable advancements in artificial intelligence.
The country ranked sixth worldwide in research on artificial neural networks and 13th in AI research overall.
The growth of knowledge-based companies has played a crucial role in strengthening Iran’s science and technology sectors, fostering innovation despite economic sanctions and external pressures.
Saeed Reza Ameli, an academic and member of the Supreme Council for the Cultural Revolution (SCCR), highlighted this achievement while discussing Iran’s broader scientific progress.
“In 2002, Iran had only 1,000 scientific articles, but this number surged to 73,000 in 2024,” Ameli stated.
He emphasized that Iran’s scientific ranking has steadily improved over the years, reaching 15th place globally in 2020, with even higher standings in specialized fields.
Ameli credited these advancements to the Islamic Revolution, describing it as a transformative event that not only ended the Pahlavi monarchy but also resisted global dominance.
Iran’s sustained investment in scientific research underscores its commitment to technological self-sufficiency and global competitiveness, even amid political and economic challenges.
