Iran eyes new nuke deal with Trump
Iran hopes for a new nuclear agreement with President Donald Trump.
Iran’s Vice President for Strategic Affairs Javad Zarif revealed the news at the Davos forum in Switzerland.
He expressed optimism saying, “I hope ‘Trump 2’ will be more serious and realistic.”
He also noted planned talks on Oct. 9, 2023 were disrupted by the Oct. 7 events in Gaza.
Criticizing Israel’s genocide in Gaza, Zarif said, “Netanyahu failed to destroy Hamas, and the Palestinian resistance remains strong.”
Since Trump withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal in 2018, Iran has ramped up uranium enrichment, reaching 60% purity — which is still below weapon-grade levels.
The International Atomic Energy Agency recently criticized Iran’s nuclear activities.
Meanwhile, Israeli officials have threatened to strike Iran’s nuclear sites.
The Davos forum, which drew more than 3,000 attendees including 60 world leaders, fosters global dialogue on key issues.
