Iran condemns US military attacks in Iraq, Syria
ISTANBUL (AA) – Iran has condemned the US military attacks in Iraq and Syria.
In a statement, Nasser Kanaani, the spokesperson of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, said the strikes were in “violation of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Iraq and Syria as well as international law, and a blatant breach of the UN Charter.”
Kanaani also warned against the “danger of war and conflict spreading across the region,” the statement said.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran once again stresses the responsibility of the international community and the United Nations Security Council in preventing the United States’ illegal and unilateral attacks in the region and stemming the spread of the crisis,” it added.
The US began to carry out a wave of airstrikes Friday against Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC)-Quds Force and Iran-backed militias in Iraq and Syria after a drone attack killed three American troops in Jordan late last month.
