Indonesians Protest Cost Of Living And Extending President’s Term
On Monday, Indonesians took to the streets to protest the rapidly rising cost of living, and the possibility of extending the president’s term in office.
People gathered in the capital Jakarta to complain about the rising cost of goods, and allegations that the government may postpone the 2024 presidential election.
Demonstrators shouted slogans against extending President Joko Widodo’s tenure either by changing the constitution or delaying the election.
They stressed the main problem in the country is the economy and demanded a solution to rising food and fuel prices.
