Indonesia rattled by 6.4 magnitude earthquake
ISTANBUL (AA) – A 6.4 magnitude earthquake shook Indonesia on Tuesday, according to the country’s National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB).
The earthquake struck off the southern coast of East Java province and was felt strongly in the Java town of Jember and the Kuta area on the resort island of Bali.
The tremors were felt around 1:07 p.m. local time.
The earthquake was measured at a depth of 10 kilometers, with the epicenter around 223 kilometers south of Jember.
Last month, a 5.6 magnitude earthquake hit the the western Java district of Cianjur, killing 321 people and damaging 62,000 homes.
