Indonesia deploys military health personnel to Egypt to treat Gazans
ANKARA (AA) – Indonesia has deployed the second batch of its military health personnel to Egypt to treat Palestinians from Gaza, state-run media reported on Tuesday.
A group of 25 Indonesian military health personnel departed on a humanitarian mission to treat Gazans on a UAE-owned hospital ship at El Arish Port, Egypt, according to Antara news agency. El Arish is one of the meeting points for aid from various countries for the Palestinians.
They are expected to join their duty starting Wednesday.
The first batch of 25 health personnel returned to Indonesia on Dec. 8.
“This is a state task, not just an individual or unit task. Your tasks as TNI (Indonesian Defense Forces) soldiers are quite large,” Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin said during his meeting with the health personnel.
“You are ambassadors of peace and humanity,” the minister added.
