Indonesia blocks Elon Musk’s X.com social media platform
JAKARTA Indonesia – Indonesia has blocked Elon Musk’s social media site X.com as part of its efforts to curb online pornography and gambling.
Indonesia’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology clarified that the domain had previously hosted content that violated Indonesian laws against “negative” material.
Usman Kansong, the director general of information and public communications at the ministry, said they are in contact with X.com to seek clarification on the nature of the site.
The suspension affects approximately 24 million users in Indonesia who access the platform.
Elon Musk recently announced that Twitter will replace its name and logo with a white X on a black background.
Indonesia, home to the world’s largest Muslim population, has often blocked offensive and pornographic material.
Social media activists think X.com may have been blocked because of the X in the domain name.
