Indian Army captain killed, 3 soldiers injured in Kashmir fire
SRINAGAR, Jammu and Kashmir (AA): A fire incident in Indian-administered Kashmir killed an army captain and three soldiers on Wednesday, said officials.
According to the Indian Army, the incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday at the Siachen glacier, one of the world’s largest glaciers at 76 kilometers (47 miles) in the north of the Kashmir region.
“In a fire accident in the Siachen glacier today, one officer died while three soldiers were injured. The injured have been safely evacuated from there to the hospital. The incident took place around 3.30 AM,” said Defense PRO Leh.
Officials identified the deceased officer as Captain Anshuman Singh, Regimental Medical Officer, who succumbed to severe burn injuries sustained during the incident.
According to the officials, the injured soldiers, who have suffered smoke inhalation and second-degree burns, are in stable condition.
