In historic move, Jewish federations deny Netanyahu invitation
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been excluded from the Jewish Federations of North America’s (JFNA) annual conference.
This marks a significant shift, highlighting Netanyahu’s increasing divisiveness, even among Jewish organizations that have traditionally supported him.
JFNA, which usually refrains from criticizing the Israeli government, has instead invited Israeli President Isaac Herzog to represent the country at this week’s gathering in Washington, DC.
When asked about Netanyahu’s absence, JFNA declined to comment.
Netanyahu’s last planned appearance at the General Assembly in 2023 was also canceled amid protests against his controversial judicial reforms.
Observers say his absence reflects growing tensions surrounding his leadership within Jewish communities in North America.
