ICC complaint lodged over journalists’ killing by Israel
Reporters Without Borders (RSF) has filed a third complaint with the International Criminal Court (ICC) alleging war crimes against journalists in Gaza.
They have accused the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) of killing eight Palestinian journalists and injuring another between December and May.
Israel’s war on Gaza has so far killed more than 100 media workers.
RSF asserts that some killings were deliberate, condemning Israel for destroying Palestinian media.
The group’s advocacy director emphasized the importance of holding perpetrators accountable to safeguard journalists globally.
The move coincides with the ninth anniversary of UN Resolution 2222, emphasizing states’ responsibility to protect journalists in conflict areas.
UN rapporteur Francesca Albanese labeled killing journalists as a war crime undermining basic human rights, calling for justice and an end to impunity.
