Hundreds march in New York, demand permanent cease-fire in Gaza
Hundreds of people marched in the streets of New York City on Monday in solidarity with the Palestinians, holding flags and banners.
“We demand an arms embargo and demand a permanent cease-fire and demand that people in Gaza should go back to their homes, should be free of Israeli occupation, and just the release of all hostages,” said Hend Elsantaricy, a librarian from Connecticut.
Yitzchok Deutsch, a rabbi from Brooklyn, said there is no words to describe the unbelievable genocide which is taking place in front of the whole world, and the whole world is silent. “We are here as Jewish people to say that we are embarrassed of what the Zionist state of Israel is doing.”
Noelle Elia, retired clinical social worker from New Rochelle, said the assault would not be able to continue without “our weapons. We frame it even in the New York Times and in our general newspapers as a war. It’s not a war, it’s an assault on the people of Palestine. It’s an attempt to wipe them out, in my opinion. So I’m here because I feel like we need an arms embargo.”
Bogdan Stefanescu, a construction consultant, said people should hear the people in Gaza that are suffering. “Everybody should be doing this — being out on the streets and protesting and maybe the rest of the world will do the same and this will end soon.”
