Hong Kong to become more Muslim-friendly for neighboring visitors
Hong Kong introduces new measures to attract Muslim tourists with simplified immigration and expanded halal options
HONG KONG (MNTV) – Hong Kong is set to become a more Muslim-friendly destination for Southeast Asian businessmen and tourists.
The city is rolling out new measures to simplify immigration processes and expand halal food options, with the aim of boosting tourism and business ties with neighboring countries.
The plan includes easing visa requirements for travelers from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam, allowing for multiple-entry visas with extended validity.
In addition, Hong Kong will provide self-service immigration clearance for invited visitors attending business and development activities.
The city will also compile a list of halal restaurants and encourage hotels to offer appropriate worship facilities to accommodate Muslim visitors.
Speaking at the South China Morning Post China Conference: Southeast Asia, Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu outlined these initiatives. “We will also provide self-service immigration clearance for invited ASEAN-country visitors participating in business, development, and related activities,” Lee said.
He emphasized Hong Kong’s commitment to making visitors feel at home in the city.
