Hindutva Extremists Celebrate Murder Of Gandhi On Jan 30.
On Mahatma Gandhi’s death anniversary Sunday, the Hindu Mahasabha paid tribute to his assassin Nathuram Godse and co-accused Narayan Apte.
The right-wing group observed “Godse-Apte Smriti Diwas” in Madhya Pradesh’s city of Gwalior.
Leaders sought to express anger over the duo’s arrest on Jan. 30, 1948.The group also bestowed the “Godse-Apte Bharat Ratna” award on jailed religious leader Kalicharan Maharaj and four leaders of the Mahasabha.
Maharaj was arrested last December for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Gandhi during a Dharma Sansad in Chhattisgarh’s capital Raipur.
India paid tribute to Gandhi, known as “the Father of the Nation,” on his 74th death anniversary.
