Hasan Asks Why Biden Calls Putin A War Criminal, But Not MBS
Journalist Mehdi Hasan asked why U.S. President Joe Biden called Russian President Vladimir Putin a “war criminal” while arming Saudi Arabia as it wages war on Yemen.
On Sunday, Hasan questioned a U.S. State Department official about why the president failed to criticize Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
He asked the ambassador why the U.S. government isn’t calling out war crimes in Yemen, like it is in Ukraine.
Hasan said “multiple atrocities have been documented by both sides,” of which one is a U.S. ally — Saudi Arabia.
Beth Van Schaack, U.S. ambassador-at-large for global criminal justice, said the U.S. has diminished its support of the Saudi-led campaign in Yemen.
