Global outrage over US blocking Gaza cease-fire resolution
Several members of the U.N. Security Council have condemned the U.S. for vetoing a fourth resolution calling for a cease-fire in Gaza.
China’s envoy Fu Cong expressed deep disappointment, accusing the U.S. of worsening the plight of Palestinians, pushing them “further into darkness and desperation.”
He called for accountability, questioning how many lives must be lost before the U.S. acts.
Algeria’s Amar Bendjama also slammed the veto, accusing Israel of continuing its actions with impunity.
Russia’s Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia labeled the veto “unconscionable,” blaming the U.S. for obstructing efforts to address the Gaza crisis.
France and the U.K. expressed similar concerns, with French envoy Nicolas de Riviere regretting the worsening situation.
The UK’s Barbara Woodward stressed the importance of international humanitarian law.
Guyana’s Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett vowed to continue efforts to end the violence, calling the ongoing suffering a “stain on our collective human conscience.”
