Germany to deploy military contingent to EU peacekeeping mission in Bosnia
BELGRADE, Serbia (AA) – Germany will deploy a military contingent to the EU peacekeeping mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina (EUFOR).
“This new EUFOR personnel will provide additional capacity in EUFOR HQ and for EUFOR’s network of Liaison and Observation Team (LOT) Houses which are located on an impartial basis all over Bosnia and Herzegovina,” EUFOR has said.
Germany’s move will bring the total number of nations contributing troops to the mission to 20.
“The number of personnel to deploy will be up to a maximum of 50,” said the statement.
The deployment will take place in phases starting mid-August.
The statement added that this deployment is a further demonstration of the EU’s commitment to a stable future for the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
