Germany aims to strengthen religious cooperation with Morocco
Two countries signed a joint declaration focusing on the training of imams and religious supervisors
BERLIN, Germany (MNTV) – Germany and Morocco have taken a significant step toward enhancing bilateral ties in religious affairs by signing a joint declaration of intent.
The agreement was formalized by Morocco’s Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Ahmed Toufiq, and Juliane Seifert, state secretary at Germany’s federal ministry of the interior.
The declaration, aimed at bolstering cooperation between the two countries in religious matters, will focus on key areas, including the training of religious supervisors.
Toufiq emphasized that the agreement will come into effect as soon as possible, with particular significance for the Moroccan community in Germany, as well as the broader Muslim minority of the country.
Seifert expressed Germany’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with Morocco, especially in the training of imams, which she highlighted as a critical component of the partnership.
The discussions leading up to the signing also explored broader avenues for enhancing cooperation between the two countries in the field of religious affairs.
This move reflects growing efforts to ensure proper guidance and training for religious leaders, marking an important development in fostering stronger ties between Morocco and Germany in the context of religious understanding and support.
