Gaza war leaves more than 38,000 children orphaned
More than 38,000 Palestinian children have been orphaned by Israel’s genocide in Gaza since October 2023, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.
It also left 13,901 women widowed with more than 47,200 Palestinians killed, mostly women and children, and 111,160 injured.
Ministry official Zaher al-Wahidi revealed that 32,151 children lost their fathers, 4,417 lost their mothers, and 1,918 lost both parents.
He called for urgent efforts to support orphans and rebuild families’ lives.
A three-phase ceasefire began on January 19, including prisoner exchanges and the withdrawal of Israeli forces.
However, the humanitarian toll is staggering, with more than 11,000 missing and Gaza in ruins.
The International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for Israeli leaders for crimes against humanity in Gaza, while a genocide case is ongoing at the International Court of Justice.
