Fulton County jail being prepared to house Trump and 18 associates
ATLANTA, Georgia – Former U.S. President Donald Trump and 18 co-defendants indicted by a Georgia grand jury will be housed at the Fulton County jail.
The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office announced that the Fulton County Jail is being prepared to house the former president.
The defendants have until Aug. 25 to turn themselves in to law enforcement.
“At this point, based on guidance received from the district attorney’s office and presiding judge, it is expected that all 19 defendants named in the indictment will be booked at the Rice Street Jail,” Natalie Ammons, a spokesperson for the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, said in a statement.
“Keep in mind, defendants can turn themselves in at any time. The jail is open 24/7. Also, due to the unprecedented nature of this case, some circumstances may change with little or no warning,” the statement added.
The indictment stems from a phone call Trump made to the Georgia secretary of state asking him to “find 11,780 votes” to win the 2020 presidential election.
The indictment includes 41 counts and accuses Trump and his co-defendants, including Rudy Giuliani and others, of engaging in various criminal activities.
Trump is charged with 13 felony counts, including violations of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act.
This is the fourth indictment Trump has faced. The charges range from hush money payments to obstructing an investigation.
