Fujairah Al Bader Festival celebrates Al Maled, recalls virtues of Prophet
Festival showcases rich heritage of Al Maled, which is traditionally celebrated on Prophet’s birthday, but also on other important occasions
FUJAIRAH, United Arab Emirates – The five-day Al Bader Festival, held under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates, concluded recently to commemorate the virtues of the Prophet Muhammed.
The festival centered on the celebration of Al Maled, an Emirati tradition that honors the spiritual and socio-cultural significance of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad in 570 AD with religious chants, art and culture.
The festival showcased the rich heritage of Al Maled, which is traditionally celebrated on the Prophet’s birthday, but also on other important occasions.
The festival featured captivating performances by the Oman Areej Ensemble, the Fujairah Maled Group and the Dubai Traditional Arts Group, all centered around the theme “In the Love of the Prophet.”
These groups captivated the audience with religious dances and soulful Islamic songs, accompanied by graceful and serene movements and visual effects.
The performers wore traditional Arabic robes and performed acapella, creating a visually captivating spectacle.
Omar Albreiki, director of the Areej Ensemble, emphasized the importance of religious occasions in Omani culture and how the group has maintained this tradition since 2012.
One of the young performers, Mayed Alkayyani, shared his enthusiasm for the event and his deep connection to it.
He expressed his desire to continue participating in this cherished tradition every year.
In addition, the festival announced the Bader Fellowship, which aims to support writing projects and the publication of books on the biography and virtues of the Prophet Muhammad, enrich the Arabic library with contemporary publications, and encourage young talents in writing.
