FRANCE CHARGES SYRIAN MAN FOR COMMITTING WAR CRIMES
Syrian-French citizen Salah Habib is charged with supporting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s regime and the country’s chemical weapons program.
Le Monde reported Habib is accused of “conspiracy to commit crimes against humanity, and complicity in war crimes” in a French court Sunday.
Habib is married to a French woman and owns a house in France’s southern province of Aix-en-Provence.
French authorities took him into custody in December and he has been imprisoned ever since.
Habib’s Yona Star company was placed on a U.S. blacklist and was accused of “transiting goods” to Damascus in violation of an international embargo.
