Former President Jimmy Carter dies at 100
Jimmy Carter, the 39th US President, has died at the age of 100.
He was President from 1977 to 1981.
Carter was the oldest living former president.
It was during his presidency that former USSR invaded Afghanistan.
He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002 for his post-presidency humanitarian work.
Carter spent his last 10 months in home care after brief hospital stays, CNN reported.
President Joe Biden described him as “a man of principle, faith and humility.”
President-elect Donald Trump said all Americans owed him a “debt of gratitude”.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said Carter was “motivated by his strong faith and values” and that he “redefined the post-presidency with a remarkable commitment to social justice and human rights at home and abroad.”
