Footage of alleged mass grave site in Damascus strengthens claims of war crimes
Anadolu has released footage showing an alleged mass grave site in the Husseiniya district of Syria’s capital Damascus.
The footage strengthens claims of potential war crimes in the region.
The site is close to the airport in southeastern Damascus.
It is suspected more than 100 pits, each about 20 meters deep, were used as graves, with bodies buried on top of each other.
Bashar al-Assad, who ruled Syria with an iron fist for nearly 25 years, fled to Russia on Dec. 8 after anti-regime forces seized Damascus.
The swift offensive, led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), resulted in the capture of key cities across Syria in less than two weeks, marking the end of Baath Party rule since 1963.
