Florida man sentenced for hate crime against Muslim postal carrier
A Florida man has been sentenced to three years in federal prison for a hate-fueled attack on a Muslim postal carrier.
Forty-seven year old Kenneth Pinkney of Fort Lauderdale was convicted on charges related to an assault on Oct. 24, 2023.
Pinkney harassed and assaulted the postal carrier while she was on her delivery route.
He approached the carrier on a bicycle, made threatening gestures and used derogatory remarks, including “go back to your country,” according to authorities.
He also physically attacked her and ripped off her hijab.
The victim suffered pain and scratches but managed to escape and report the incident.
Pinkney was apprehended after leaving a trail of evidence and is now serving thirty-seven months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
