Floods in Kyrgyzstan claim 22 lives in six months
In the past six months, floods in Kyrgyzstan have resulted in the deaths of 22 people, according to the country’s Ministry of Emergency Situations.
Over 4,500 houses were damaged with some heavily destroyed by the floods, Kyrgyzstan’s Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations, Azamat Mambetov said on Thursday.
Mambetov noted that the material damage caused by natural disasters amounted to 13 million dollars since the beginning of the year.
Most of the natural disasters occurred in the southern regions of the country, specifically in Osh, Jalalabad, and Batken.
