First U.S. Military Convoy Enters Romania, Poland As Tensions Rise Between Russia And Nato
The first convoy carrying U.S. military equipment and vehicles arrived at a military base in Romania Wednesday en route to the Mihail Kogalniceanu air base.
The convoy is part of U.S. efforts to bolster NATO’s Eastern flank amid tensions between Russia and Ukraine.
U.S. President Joe Biden pledged last week to send 1,000 soldiers to Romania and 2,000 to Poland.
The Pentagon said the Stryker Squadron to be relocated to Romania is coming from Vilseck, Germany.
U.S. troops also arrived in Poland after deploying from Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
They will help bolster forces in Europe’s Eastern Flank amid fears of a Russian invasion of Ukraine.
