EU alarmed by surge in terror attacks in Burkina Faso
The European Union has voiced grave concern over Burkina Faso’s worsening security crisis.
The comments come following a deadly terrorist attack in Barsalogho over the weekend.
Nearly 200 people died and three hundred were injured.
Local media suspect the attack was carried out by Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin, an ISIS affiliate.
The EU strongly condemned the violence and called for intensified efforts to halt the escalating conflict.
Mali’s military leader Assimi Goita has reaffirmed the commitment of the Confederation of Sahel States to combat regional terrorism.
Burkina Faso is a landlocked country in West Africa.
The country is controlled by a military junta.
It has been grappling with an insurgency linked to ISIS that has displaced thousands and heightened regional instability.
