GAZA, Palestine (MNTV) – At least 81 Palestinians, including 20 children and 25 women have been killed in Israeli airstrikes across Gaza since the ceasefire deal was announced.
Over 230 others were injured, Gaza’s civil defence reported.
Most casualties occurred in Gaza City, with 61 killed.
An Israeli airstrike in Sheikh Radwan neighbourhood claimed 20 lives, including women and children, eyewitnesses said. Separate strikes on Rimal and Al-Daraj neighbourhoods left nine dead.
A girl was killed in Shejaiya, and three Palestinians died in Tel al-Hawa.
In central Gaza, three people were killed in a drone attack on Nuseirat refugee camp, while southern Khan Younis saw two fatalities in another airstrike.
Local sources also reported intense artillery fire in several eastern Gaza neighbourhoods.
The violence comes amid the announcement of a ceasefire agreement brokered by Qatar, set to start Sunday.
A total of 12 patients from Gaza have been evacuated to Europe for medical care, the World Health Organization’s (WHO) director-general said Thursday.
Accompanied by 35 family members, the patients from Gaza reached Albania, France, Norway, and Romania overnight to receive specialized medical care there, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on X, thanking the countries and EU Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid for their cooperation and support.
“The ceasefire deal offers an opportunity for expedited medical evacuations for over 12,000 people, including many children, who urgently need lifesaving care outside Gaza,” he noted.
Ghebreyesus added: “We hope the deal will be sustained because lives depend on it. Peace is the best medicine!”
The Israeli army rounded up at least 22 more Palestinians in fresh military raids in the occupied West Bank, according to prisoners’ affairs groups on Thursday.
Former prisoners were among the detainees in the raids that targeted Bethlehem, Tubas, Tulkarem, and Ramallah, the Commission of Detainees’ Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoner Society said in a joint statement.
“The arrest campaigns came amid a massive aggression launched by the (Israeli) occupation against our people in retaliation that falls under the crime of collective punishment,” the statement said.
The new arrests brought the number of Palestinians detained by the Israeli army in the West Bank since October 2023 to over 14,300, including those who were released after being arrested, according to Palestinian figures.
The war, ongoing for 467 days, has killed over 46,788 Palestinians and injured more than 110,453 since October 2023.
The war has displaced thousands and caused widespread destruction, exacerbating an already dire humanitarian crisis.
The International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for Israeli leaders over alleged war crimes, and Israel faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice.
