EPA clamps down on cancer-causing chemicals used in dry cleaning, automotive industries
The Biden administration’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has banned two hazardous chemicals commonly used in dry cleaning and automotive industries.
The chemicals trichloroethylene and tetrachloroethylene have been found linked to serious health risks such as liver and kidney cancers, as well as damage to the nervous and immune systems.
They have been under scrutiny for their widespread impact on consumer and environmental safety.
The ban aims to eliminate the use of these carcinogens in favor of safer alternatives, addressing longstanding concerns about public health hazards.
