Egypt’s National Heart Institute pioneers advanced surgical implantation
CAIRO, Egypt (MNTV) – Egypt’s National Heart Institute has successfully performed four transcatheter pulmonary valve implantations (TPV) using the advanced MYVAL system, the Ministry of Health confirmed Sunday.
The $20,000 per procedure represents a significant advancement in cardiac treatment, offering patients a safer alternative to traditional open-heart surgery.
The minimally invasive technique, performed via catheter without chest incisions, reduces hospital stays to 24-48 hours and eliminates risks associated with conventional surgery.
“This breakthrough demonstrates our commitment to adopting cutting-edge cardiac technologies,” said Dr. Mohamed Abdel Hadi, Director of the National Heart Institute.
The procedures were conducted by an elite medical team under Dr. Rania Diaa El-Din Abu Shoka, with international collaboration from expert Dr. Shivakumar.
The “Loyalty to Egypt” Foundation fully funded the four Ramadan procedures, highlighting growing public-private partnerships in advancing Egypt’s healthcare capabilities.
Health officials emphasize these innovations will significantly improve quality of life for patients requiring valve replacements.
