Egyptian foreign minister visits Damascus — for first time in decade
ISTANBUL (AA) – Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Monday visited Syrian capital Damascus to express solidarity to the earthquake victims.
The Syrian regime’s news agency SANA said Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad received his Egyptian counterpart at Damascus International Airport.
On Sunday, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said Shoukry was set to embark on a visit to Syria and Türkiye on Monday to convey a message of solidarity from Egypt.
In Syria, at least 5,840 people have been killed in the earthquake disaster.
