Egypt building field hospital near Gaza border as Israeli strikes continue: Report
ANKARA (AA) – Egypt is building a field hospital near its border with the Gaza Strip amid the ongoing Israeli attacks on the Palestinian territory, according to the Egyptian media.
“The Health Directorate in North Sinai is working at full capacity to establish a field hospital for injured Palestinians upon their entry into Egypt,” the state flagship newspaper Al-Ahram said.
“The hospital is about to be ready,” it added.
Osama al-Ghandour, the secretary-general of North Sinai governorate, said health facilities are ready to receive injured Palestinians “once they are allowed” into Egypt.
“Three places have been allocated to accommodate those accompanying the injured in Sheikh Zuweid and Arish cities [in Sinai],” he was quoted as saying by Al-Ahram.
State-run Extra News channel also confirmed that the finishing touches are being put to the field hospital.
The Israeli army has widened its air and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip, which has been under relentless airstrikes since the surprise offensive by the Palestinian group Hamas on October 7.
More than 9,800 people have been killed in the Gaza conflict, including 8,306 Palestinians which include primarily children, minors and women.
