Doctors Without Borders urge UN to enforce its Gaza cease-fire resolution
The head of humanitarian organization Doctors Without Borders has urged the U.N. Security Council to enforce its cease-fire resolution for Gaza.
Christopher Lockyear is asking its members to ensure their resolution does not remain an act of meaningless political theater.
Stressing the urgency of an “immediate and sustained” cease-fire, he called for an end to indiscriminate attacks on civilians and medical facilities.
Lockyear is emphasizing the necessity for increased access across Gaza, especially in the north.
He has also expressed concern over potential ground invasions in Rafah.
Lockyear condemned attacks on humanitarian convoys, revealing his medical group’s shelters were targeted, resulting in casualties among staff members’ families.
His comments follow an Israeli airstrike that killed seven members of the U.S.-based World Central Kitchen charity in Gaza earlier this week.
