Deportation flights land in El Salvador despite court ban
Three deportation flights landed in El Salvador despite a judge’s order to halt them.
A U.S. federal judge barred the Trump administration from using a wartime law to deport alleged Venezuelan gang members.
The judge also ordered planes that had already taken off to turn around.
But flight records reviewed by The Washington Post show two planes left Texas while the case was being reviewed.
A third flight departed even after the written order was issued.
Amnesty International has called the deportations “racist targeting” of Venezuelans based on broad claims of gang links.
