Democrats push to rehire fired veterans
Senate Democrats have introduced a bill to reinstate veterans fired by the Trump administration.
Sens. Tammy Duckworth and Andy Kim unveiled the Protect Veteran Jobs Act, saying that more than 6,000 veterans were dismissed as part of workforce cuts.
Duckworth slammed the administration for “kicking our heroes to the curb.”
She called on Republicans to stop enabling Trump and Elon Musk’s “chaos.”
Kim said veterans dedicated their lives to public service and should not be left without jobs.
The bill is co-sponsored by several Democratic senators.
It would require the Trump administration to report to Congress on a quarterly basis on the veterans who have been removed from federal employment.
The administration would also have to provide justification for their removal.
Democrats are urging immediate support for the legislation, saying it’s about fairness and respect for those who served.
