Deadly strikes pound Gaza amid ceasefire hopes
The violence comes amid reports of progress in ceasefire negotiations taking place in Doha
GAZA, Palestine (MNTV) –
Israeli airstrikes intensified on Gaza for a third consecutive day, claiming the lives of at least 62 Palestinians within 24 hours, according to medical sources.
The attacks have targeted homes, refugee shelters, and a school housing displaced families, leaving devastation in their wake.
Al Jazeera Arabic reports that at least 38 Palestinians have been killed since dawn on Wednesday.
These strikes came coinciding reports that a breakthrough has been achieved regarding ceasefire negotiations in Doha.
Among the dead are a child and a baby, killed in an attack on a tent sheltering displaced residents in Nuseirat camp.
Strikes in Gaza City and central areas have surged, with 26 fatalities reported in the central and southern regions alone.
A bombing on a Shahin family home in Deir al-Balah claimed 13 lives, while seven were killed in a Nuseirat refugee camp strike. Another attack on a Bureij camp resulted in five deaths.
In Rafah, a strike on the Sha’ath family home tragically killed a woman and four children. A drone strike in Khirbet Al-Adas claimed two more lives.
Alarming reports indicate that the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza has suffered power outages due to shelling.
The violence comes amid reports of progress in ceasefire negotiations taking place in Doha. However, the toll on civilians continues to rise.
Meanwhile, an Israeli airstrike on a home in Jenin, West Bank, on Tuesday night killed six Palestinians, including a 15-year-old boy.
Eyewitnesses reported that an Israeli drone fired three missiles near the al-Awda roundabout in the Jenin refugee camp, according to Palestinian news agency Wafa.
The victims have been identified as Mahmoud Ashraf Mustafa Gharbiyeh, 15, Mo’men Ibrahim Abu al-Hayja, 28, Amir Ibrahim Mahmoud Abu al-Hayja, 27, Hussam Hassan Qanouh, 34, Ibrahim Mustafa Qaneiry, 23, and Bahaa Ibrahim Abu al-Hayja, 33. Several others were injured but are reportedly in stable condition.
The Jenin Camp Media Committee condemned the Palestinian Authority (PA), accusing it of enabling the deadly attack through its cooperation with Israeli forces. In a statement, the committee declared, “We hold the authority fully responsible for the Israeli massacre in Jenin camp.”
Since October 7, 2023, Israeli military actions in Gaza have killed at least 46,707 Palestinians and wounded 110,265, according to local reports.
The devastation has drawn global condemnation and legal scrutiny.
In November 2024, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense
Minister Yoav Gallant, charging them with war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Additionally, Israel faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice.
As the ceasefire talks approach a potential breakthrough, the world watches anxiously, hoping for an end to the bloodshed that has left Gaza reeling.
