Court orders DA Willis to release emails exchanged with Jack Smith
A Fulton County judge has asked District Attorney Fani Willis to provide emails exchanged with Special Counsel Jack Smith and the Jan. 6 Committee.
This followed Willis’ failure to respond adequately to court filings, leading to a default judgment against her.
The ruling, confirmed by Judge Robert McBurney, asserts that Willis neglected her legal duties by not addressing the lawsuit in a timely manner.
Judicial Watch, having pursued transparency for over three decades, heralded the judgment as a landmark victory against government opacity.
Willis needs to comply with the order in five business days, with a subsequent hearing scheduled for Dec. 20 to discuss attorney fees.
