NAACP urges Biden to halt arms shipments to Israel
The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) has called on the Biden administration to indefinitely suspend arms shipments to Israel due to the high civilian death toll in Gaza.
The national civil rights group’s president Derrick Johnson has expressed the need for a cease-fire and halt in violence.
Johnson called on President Joe Biden to stop weapon shipments to Israel.
The NAACP’s appeal comes as Biden faces increasing pressure over his refusal to limit U.S. arms supply to Israel despite mounting civilian casualties.
The Black community’s support is crucial for Biden’s re-election, particularly in key swing states.
Johnson has also demanded the release of prisoners held by Hamas and an adherence to international laws by Israel.
