He faced threats to have his press credentials revoked, a tactic he claims was used to limit journalists’ access.
Freelance journalist Josh Pacheco, who has worked with the New York Times, PBS, and Forbes, was one of at least three credentialed journalists arrested.
The situation escalated on Tuesday night outside the Israeli consulate in Chicago’s West Loop Gate neighborhood, where clashes erupted between protesters and police.
Bassim and other journalists were targeted, with multiple arrests including those of press members.
