Trump’s threats attack on democracy, says Cheney
Former Rep. Liz Cheney has denounced President-elect Donald Trump’s threats to imprison her and other Jan. 6 committee members as an attack on democracy.
In response to Trump’s recent remarks on “Meet the Press,” Cheney accused him of lying about the committee’s findings and undermining the rule of law.
She highlighted Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election results, inciting a violent mob that assaulted the Capitol and disrupted the electoral process.
Cheney rejected Trump’s claims of evidence destruction by the committee, noting that all findings, including an extensive report and testimonies, remain accessible online.
She asserted any legal action against the committee would lack factual or constitutional grounds and could lead to legal repercussions for those pursuing such claims.
