GAZA, Palestine (MNTV) – Despite a ceasefire announcement, Palestinian territory Gaza endures devastating airstrikes, leaving a mounting toll of death and destruction.
At least 113 Palestinians, including 28 children and 31 women, have been killed since the truce was declared on Wednesday, with over 264 injured, according to Gaza’s Civil Defense.
Israeli airstrikes targeted Rafah, Khan Younis, and Gaza City, with Gaza City bearing the brunt of the casualties.
In past 24-hours alone, 86 people were killed, underscoring the persistent violence even as a ceasefire looms.
Mahmoud Basal, a spokesperson for Gaza’s Civil Defense, accused Israeli occupation forces of continuing their bombardment unabated.
The United Nations has expressed deep concern, noting that 15 children in Gaza are sustaining injuries daily that could lead to lifelong disabilities.
Gaza’s Civil Defense described the situation as “harsh,” accusing Israel of violating the terms of the ceasefire.
Hamas, in turn, accused Israel of deliberately committing massacres to sabotage the truce, labeling these actions as “terrorist” and condemning the ongoing bloodshed.
In the West Bank, violence by Israeli colonists against Palestinians continued unabated, with attacks reported in Bethlehem, Tulkarem, and Jericho.
According to the Palestinian Wafa news agency, armed colonists stormed the village of Kur, south of Tulkarem, harassing residents and roaming agricultural lands at gunpoint.
In Hebron, colonists, backed by Israeli military forces, raided the ancient archaeological site of Tel Ma’in in the village of al-Karmil. Meanwhile, in the Masafer Yatta area, Palestinian shepherds and farmers faced repeated attacks as part of ongoing provocations by colonists.
In another incident, colonists raided Al-Kaabneh Elementary School in the Bedouin community of Al-Malihah, northwest of Jericho.
The school, which serves 100 students and is part of the Tahadi (Challenge) schools in Area C, has been frequently targeted, with the last major attack occurring in September 2024.
Hassan Mlihah, a Bedouin rights activist, reported that colonists patrolled the school grounds in vehicles, heightening fears among students and staff.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel’s war on Gaza has claimed the lives of 46,788 Palestinians and wounded 110,453, according to official figures.
The unrelenting strikes have devastated the enclave, sparking international outcry.
As Gaza continues to bleed, calls for accountability grow louder. The international community, including the United Nations, has urged all parties to honor the ceasefire and prioritize the protection of civilians.
However, with violence persisting across Gaza and the West Bank, peace remains an elusive hope for Palestinians caught in the crossfire.
The International Criminal Court (ICC) last year in November issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Additionally, Israel faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for its actions in the enclave.
