‘Captured’ Ukrainian Journalist Freed by Russian Forces
KYIV, Ukraine (AA) – A Ukrainian journalist, who was allegedly “captured” last week by Russian security forces in the southeastern Ukrainian city of Berdyansk, has been released on Tuesday, according to local media.
“Our journalist Victoria Roshchyna was released from Russian captivity. Now she is on her way to her hometown, Zaporizhzhia. She was captured on March 15 in the occupied Berdyansk,” Hromadske media outlet said on Twitter.
According to UN estimates, at least 953 civilians have been killed and around 1,557 others injured in Ukraine since Russia began its attack on its western neighbor.
However, the UN has warned that the true toll is likely to be much higher because it has not been able to gain access to areas of heightened hostility.
The war has also driven 10 million people from their homes, either internally or as refugees who fled abroad, according to the UN refugee agency.
