Calls to boycott Israel at Eurovision ‘unacceptable’: Germany

Germany has said that calls to boycott Israeli artists at the Eurovision song contest were “unacceptable”, after demonstrators in host country Sweden protested against Israeli participation due to its ongoing genocidal military campaign in Gaza.
Israeli singer Eden Golan qualified Thursday for this weekend’s Eurovision grand finale, even as more than 10,000 people took to the streets of Malmo to voice opposition to her Zionist country taking part.
However, German Culture Minister Claudia Roth said that “calls to boycott the participation of Israeli artists at cultural events there, as everywhere in Europe and Germany, are absolutely unacceptable.”
“Especially in these times, we need more cultural cooperation between Europe and Israel,” she added on X, formerly Twitter.
“The Eurovision stars from Israel in particular stood — and still stand for — an open and diverse society. Anti-Semitism, hatred and violence have no place at this important music event.”
Germany is a key supporter of Israel, and has offered the country its staunch support throughout Israel’s unprecedented assault on Gaza.
Israel’s ongoing offensive has killed at least 34,904 people in Gaza, mostly women and children, and has left the besieged territory in utter ruins.
