California allocates $1.6 million to protect mosques, synagogues
California has allocated more than $1 million to strengthen security for mosques and synagogues across the state since October.
This has been in response to heightened security threats to Muslim and Jewish Americans after the start of Israel’s war on Gaza.
California Governor Gavin Newsom had initiated a fund of $10 million to reimburse law enforcement for overtime costs across the state.
These were incurred while officers provided security to religious institutions.
