CAIR-Georgia condemns harassment of Muslim women
The Georgia chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has condemned the alleged harassment of two Muslim women in downtown Alpharetta.
The women, wearing hijabs, were peacefully protesting with a Palestinian flag when a middle-aged man began verbally abusing them with Islamophobic and racist remarks.
A video shows the man making disturbing comments, questioning if the women had guns, and threatening violence.
Despite the women asking him to leave, he continued to follow and film them.
A bystander eventually intervened to help the women reach their car safely.
CAIR-Georgia Executive Director Azka Mahmood said that such actions violate the women’s First Amendment rights to peacefully protest.
Mahmood highlighted the disturbing rise of Islamophobic and racist rhetoric in Georgia, calling for respect and protection of constitutional rights.
