CAIR demands action after Israeli settler kills US teen in West Bank
An Israeli settler killed a 14-year-old Palestinian-American boy in the occupied West Bank.
Omar Mohammad Rabea was killed at the entrance of Turmus Ayya, near Ramallah, on Sunday.
Mayor Adeeb Lafi said Israeli settlers opened fire on three teens.
Two were rushed to a medical center.
Rabea, who was badly wounded, was detained by Israeli soldiers and later died.
The Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed his death, blaming Israeli occupation forces.
The Israeli military has not commented on Rabea’s killing.
Israeli settler violence in the West Bank has surged since Israel’s genocide in Gaza began in October 2023.
Settlers have attacked Palestinian villages and Bedouin camps almost daily.
Despite international condemnation and sanctions from Europe, Israel’s violence continues.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) condemned the killing and repeated its call for the U.S. Justice Department to prosecute Israelis who kill American citizens.
CAIR joined more than 60 national organizations urging Congress to pass the Justice for Shireen Act.
The proposed law would require the FBI and State Department to publicly report on the circumstances surrounding Israel’s killing of Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, who was also a U.S. citizen.
