CAIR demands action after assault on Muslim students at Maryland University event
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has called for an internal review and policy changes at the University of Maryland.
The civil rights group’s demand came after several Muslim students were assaulted during a football tournament on campus in October.
Despite proper planning and notification for the event hosted by the Helping Hands club, CAIR says no security was present.
This led to serious injuries, including a concussion for one student.
The assailant has been identified as a non-student.
CAIR criticized the university for not adequately protecting its minority students.
It also requested a meeting to discuss improvements in campus safety protocols to ensure a discrimination-free environment for all students.
