CAIR condemns Arizona University for forced hijab removal
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has called for a thorough investigation of Arizona State University’s alleged forcible removal of hijabs of a group of Muslim women at a pro-Palestine rally on campus.
Video footage from the rally suggests at least four instances of hijab removal during arrests by the school’s police officers.
CAIR-Arizona’s Executive Director Azza Abuseif emphasized the First Amendment’s protection of religious freedom.
She denounced the reported actions as a violation of this right.
CAIR is also investigating other reports of an anti-Muslim hate crime at a similar rally in California.
